Showers forecast during Vesak

The Department of Meteorology states that showers may be experienced during the Vesak week due to atmospheric disturbance.


According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Meteorology S.R. Jayasekara showers may be accompanied with thunder.




Moreover according to several of our correspondents due to the incessant rains experienced in the central high lands, a dense fog is said to obscure several routes.


The routes include the Ginigathhena-Hatton, Ginigathhena-Colombo & Ginigathhena-Nuwara Eliya roads.


Meanwhile the Disaster Management Centre states that around 100 individuals belonging to 25 families continues to inhabit displacement camps due to the recently experienced cyclone.


A total of 8105 individuals were distressed as a result of the cyclone.
