The Ministry of Health yesterday busted a massive local pharmaceutical racket that has been selling substandard medicine and cosmetics to the market for years.

 

On a tip-off received by the National Pharmaceutical Authority, an illegal stock of drugs worth of 5 hundred thousand rupees, transporting in a lorry was taken into custody in Gampola yesterday.

 

According to the driver and his assistant, who are now in police custody, the fake drugs have been distributed throughout the country for a long time.

 

Health Ministry officials said that they have received information about the location of this fake drug and cosmetic manufacturing plant, and action has already been taken to raid the factory.
