Several new acts for safeguarding Buddhism; says President.

The inauguration of the series of ceremonies conducted in commemoration of the 260th anniversary of restoring the Buddhist Higher Ordination from Thailand to Sri Lanka was held at the Kandy Sacred Tooth Relic Temple precincts today.

That was under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Speaking at the function held later Malwatta Chapter Chief Incumbent Most Venerable Thibbatuwaawe Sri Sumangala Thero  said that the President should focus his attention on the forces against Buddhism.


Expressing his views subsequently, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that Buddhists were taking action to safeguard their religion without becoming extremists because of the correct guidance given by the Sangha.


President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated as follows with regard to the country’s religious co-existence.
