Devotees flock to sacred sites in view of Vesak celebrations

Buddhists all over the world celebrate Vesak today, the day which marks the birth, the enlightenment and the pari nirvana of the Gautama Buddha.


Coinciding to this blessed day, now we take a look at the significance of Vesak full moon poya day.




Buddhist devotees the world over celebrate the festival of Vesak today which commemorates the birth, enlightenment & parinibbhana of the Buddha.


A large number of local devotees were witnessed at various places of worship today.


According to our correspondents a large crowd continues to arrive at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.


Moreover a large number of devotees have been witnessed at the site of the Anuradhapura Sri Maha Bodhi as well as the Atamasthana.


Special religious observances have also been organized concentric to the Kaluthara Bodhi.
