Trade unions reveal the reason for the port fire; Analyst report today.

Port Trade Unions disclose the reason for the fire at the Colombo Port CFS One warehouse.


All Ceylon Port General Employees’ Union general secretary Chandrasiri Mahagamage told our news team that the reason for this fire is the storing of combustible goods in the warehouse.




A fire erupted in the Colombo Port CFS One warehouse at dawn last Saturday.


The police said that several hours were taken to douse the fire.


At the time the fire erupted a large number of goods including electronic equipment, readymade garments and cosmetics worth millions of rupees had been stored.


Our news team queried Port and Highways Project Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardhana about the fire at the Port warehouse.


The Minister said that action would be taken to obtain all the relevant investigation reports today.


Police Media Spokesman  SP Buddhika Sirwardhana said that investigations still continued.


The police media spokesman said that the Government Analyst test reports too were scheduled to be received in the future.
