Chairman of Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha assaults police

Investigations have been initiated to arrest the Chairman of Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha for allegedly assaulting two police officers on duty in

Dandu-hatakkma area in Embilipitiya.


Police Media Spokesman SP Buddhika Sirivardana said that the two police officers on foot patrol in Walalgoda area have stopped three persons riding a motor cycle without carrying licenses.


SP Sirivardana said that the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and his accomplice followed the two officers to Danduhatakkma. The duo has alighted from a black motor car, abused the two officers, threatened them and carried the alleged assault on the two.


SP Sirivardana said that one of them who received injuries during the attack is receiving treatment at Embilipitiya hospital.


Meanwhile two police security guards of Kilinochchi SLFP Organiser and another two police officers attached to Bulathsinhala Police station were also subject to assault last night.
