Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo given ultimatum by FUTA

The Federation of University Teachers Alliance states that newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo Dr. Kumara Hirimburegama has been given two weeks ultimatum to vacate his post.


A ballot was held last week to select the Vice Chancellor for the Colombo University & Professor Lakshman Dissanayake was able to secure majority votes in the ballot against Dr. Hirimburegama.


When contacted the Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navarathne said the President has made the new appointment under the powers vested in him by the Constitution.
