The Sri Lanka Ports Authority said that a final assessment of the goods destroyed by the fire that erupted at the Colombo Harbour CFS 1 warehouse on the 24th will be released today.

 

By now information has been received from 338 businessmen with regard to their goods.

 

Reports say that according to the current assessment the loss incurred due to the fire is about 500 million rupees.

 

Ports Authority sources said that out of this the value of loss of goods ranged between 300 and 350 million rupees.

 

However it is also said that steps are being taken to free the relevant goods from port tariff.

 

Similarly Ports Authority sources said that the Treasury would take action to remove the tax already paid for them.
