Navy intercepts Rosa Kusum

Fifty – two persons who had tried to illegally set sail bound for Australia by the vessel Rosa Kusum were arrested by the Navy yesterday.


The Navy said that this group had been arrested in the deep sea about 18 nautical miles away from  Chilaw.


Forty-five Tamils were also among the arrested persons.


The navy said that there were 20 children in the vessel among the arrested.


The arrested persons are residents of Jaffna, Chilaw, Negombo and Mullaitiv.


After bringing the relevant vessel to the Mutwal port they were handed over to the police.
