Heavy rains today as well; damage to 35 houses in Baticaloa due to strong winds.

The meteorology department says that due to the strong south western monsoon winds there could be heavy rain in many areas of the island today.

Meteorologist in charge Jeevan Karunaratne said that compared to recent days there would be more rain today.


Meanwhile the National Disaster Management Centre said that 35 houses were partially damaged due to the strong windy condition that accompanied the heavy  rains experienced last afternoon at Manmunai in Portheev-pattu in Batticaloa.

Shinawatra is expected to call on the Mahanayake Thera of Asgiriya Chapter and Mahanayake of the Malawatte Chapter as well.
