Students on hunger strike at University of Sabaragamuwa admitted to hospital

The Federation of Students representing the University of Sabaragamuwa are currently engaged in a protest blocking the Colombo-Badulla main route.


The protest comes in the wake of a decision taken by the universities administration to suspend 5 students.


Dinesh Bandara, a Representative of the Sabaragamuwa Universities Student Federation expressed the following views to our news team with regards to the stance taken by them.




Meanwhile 4 students who were engaged in a fast-unto death campaign before the University of Sabaragamuwa were admitted to the Pambahinna hospital & were subsequently transferred to the Balangoda hospital.


According to our correspondent a heavy police presence is witnessed in the Pambahinna Junction.


Commenting on the situation at the University of Sabaragamuwa, Deputy Minister of Education Nandimithra Ekanayeke expressed these views to our news team yesterday.
