Attorney General dismisses plans by water supply board

A proposal submitted by the Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage Board to establish a bottled water factory has been turned down by the Attorney General.


The Ministry had forwarded this proposal with the aim of providing portable water to those in the North Central Province, who have been hard hit by kidney disease.


According to the Secretary Ministry Amarananda Abeygunawardhana plans were underway to have the water bottled through a company affiliated to the Ministry.


However due to legal constraints the proposal had been turned down by the Attorney General.
