Homagama District Judge Sunil Abeysinghe who was arrested and remanded for allegedly having accepted a bribe of rupees 300,000 from a hotel owner in Hanwella has been ordered to further be placed under arrest until the 10th of this month along with the constable who was his security officer.

 

This order was issued when the case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

 

Appearing on behalf of the suspected judge, Presidents Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasooriya added that it was the most senior district judge who has been placed under arrest.

 

Defending his client in court Presidents Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasooriya added that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had wilfully framed falls accusations against his client.
