Death sentence on Mawanalla pradeshiya saba chairman

Kegalle Provincial High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundera passed death sentence on Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman K.G. Piyatissa today who found guilty of shooting a man to death at Nadeniya Mawanella in 2003.


The convict had not held the post of Pradeshiya Sabaha Chairman at the time of the murder.


Meanwhile Ambilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman M.K. Amila who surrendered to courts after an alleged assault on two policemen was remanded yesterday till 11th this month.


Police Media Spokesman Office stated that in connection with another assault on two policemen attached to the Bulathsinhala Police Station, the suspected Chairman of Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha has not yet been arrested.
