Peradeniya Hospital Directress Dr. Chandraa Gunatilleke says that investigations have begun with regard to doctors alleged to have performed infertility surgeries by force on women coming to the hospital for child delivery.

 

An incident of subjecting Sinhala Buddhist women to forced infertility surgeries was reported from the Kandy – Peradeniya Teaching hospital.

 

This has come to light based on information received from several women to the effect that women were forcefully subjected to infertility surgeries.

 

After Kandy District JHU representatives were informed of the matter, these representatives had gone to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital and aldo staged a protest yesterday.

 

After the protest they had met the Peradeniya Hospital Directress Dr. Chandraa Gunatilleke as well and held a discussion.
