MP Arundika makes another statement about Eknaligoda

Friday, 07 June 2013 - 19:31

UPFA MP Arundika Fernando said today in parliament that he made the previous statement about missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda on the information provided to him by another journalist Manjula Vediwardana.

He said certain print and electronic media houses exploited his remark over Eknaligoda to criticize him and make false allegations against him.

The MP said that he knew information about Eknaligoda after his class mate Manjula Wediwardana met him recently in France.

He said Wediwardana showed him a short and bald man in France, and introduced him as Eknaligoda.

At that time, the particular person avoided to talk with him and left the place.

Meanwhile Chief Organizer of the UPFA government Minister Dinesh Gunawardana said in parliament today that the only duty of the police is not to serve the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

A UNP MP raised a question regarding a statement made by DIG Vass Gunawardane to the CID.

Chief Government Whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardana replied as follows.

Meanwhile Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody adviced MP’s not to bring disrepute to parliament.

This was following a question raised by UNP MP Sajith Premadasa.
