An assault on meter reader who clarified the electricity tariff hike.

A meter reader who tried to clarify a consumer how his electricity tariff was worked out for the Month of May was assaulted.


Mirigama police said that the suspect, a resident at Dikkandawatta Waturugama was remanded after produced before the courts.


The meter reader who is attached to the Veyangoda Regional Electrical Engineers Office is still receiving treatment at Mirigama hospital.


Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, Operation Committee member of the Electricity Board Unions Alliance Ranjan Jayalala said that they will take trade union actions if similar incidents takes place in the future.
