It was reaffirmed at the UNHR Council recently that the Government was still continuing to take steps for bringing about reconciliation within Sri Lanka.

That was in conjunction with the reply given to the statement the US and Canada had made to the effect that Human Rights were being violated in Sri Lanka.

The UNHRC’s 22nd session which began on 27th ultimo is currently taking place at the UNHRC in Geneva.

UNHRC,  US representative in Geneva Allen Donahov addressing the session on 4th instant, said that  human rights has been violated in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the session about the current human rights situation in Sri Lanka the Canadian Representative too said that human rights were being violated in Sri Lanka.

However replying to these the Sri Lanka’s representative at the UNHCR in Geneva said day-before-yesterday even by now steps were being taken to bring about reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
