Colombo+central+bus+terminal+sued+for+dengue+breeding

The Colombo Municipality has decided to sue the management of the Colombo Central Bus Terminal for keeping its environment vulnerable to dengue.

 

CMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam said that the dengue investigating officers has discovered several mosquito breeding sites within the Central Bus Stand during their raid in the premises yesterday.

 

Defense Ministry in collaboration with the CMC raided several places in Colombo city today as well.

 

26 persons were found having dengue mosquito breeding grounds in their premises, and the CMC will sue them soon.

 

Meanwhile a decision was taken today at a meeting held between the Pubic Administration Ministry and Health Ministry officials to launch anti-dengue programs at all government institutions on every Friday.

 

However during a press briefing held in Colombo today, President of the Health Services Trade Unions Alliance Saman Ratnapriya said that although the spreading of the BTI bacteria found to be a tangible solution to prevent dengue, the program was aborted after certain officials in charge of the program were fed with commissions.
