Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Sarath Kumara Gunarathne states that the Meteorological department should accept responsibility for not warning fishermen regarding inclement weather.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the ministry premises today, the deputy minister further stated that the number of deaths of fishermen who were caught in the storm have risen to 49 and he suspects that most of the others who have gone missing may have perished as well.

Meanwhile, our news team inquired from the minister of disaster management Mahinda Amaraweera regarding the allegations made by Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Sarath Kumara Gunarathne.

In response Minister Amaraweera stated that the truth will be revealed once the committee appointed by the President to investigate this, completes its investigations.
