Provincial councillor who punished teacher remanded

UPFA provincial councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara who forced a lady teacher of the Isuru Vidyalaya in Nawa-gaththe-gama to kneel down due to disciplinary action she had taken against a student at the school was arrested this afternoon.


The police media unit stated that the provincial councillor has been remanded till the 18th of this month after he was presented before the Puttalam Magistrate.


The teacher had warned several female students as their uniforms were shorter than the allowed amount.


Among the students who were warned was the daughter of UPFA Wayamba Provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara.


Thereafter the UPFA Councillor who had arrived at the school had forced the Teacher to kneel down at the school premises.


The lady teacher explained the incident to our news team.




However, upon inquiry by our news team UPFA Wayamba Provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara stated that he did not enter the school.




Meanwhile, an individual residing opposite the school who witnessed the Provincial Councillor entering the school spoke to our news team.
