Sluice+gates+of+several+reservoirs+opened%3B+Instructions+to+be+on+alert.

With the downpour of heavy rains experienced in the central hills, the sluice gates of several reservoirs continue to remain open.

 

The National Disaster Management Centre said that  a sluice gate per each of the reservoirs of Upper Kotmale, Castlereigh and Kotmale and two sluice gates the Canion reservoir had been opened.

 

Similarly three gates each of Mousekelle and Victoria reservoirs have been opened.

 

The DMC said further that the sluice gates of the Lakshapaana reservoir too had been kept open.

 

Disaster Management Centre Deputy Director Pradeep Kodipillai said that due to this the people around these reservoirs should be more vigilant.

The Meteorology Department says that a rainy weather condition will prevail in certain areas in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and Southern provinces during the next 24 hours.
