A group of farmers carry poison and protest on a roof top

A group of farmers are currently engaging in a protest atop a roof of a building in the Hingurakgoda – Gal-amuna Govi Jana Seva Centre stating that they have not yet received fertilizer for cultivation of crops.


These farmers began the protest this afternoon and are currently engaging in the protest while keeping bottles of pesticides in hand.


The farmers stated that although they have paid for the fertilizer several days ago, they still have not received fertilizer.




Our news team inquired from the Polonnaruwa District Secretary Nimal Abeysiri regarding this.


He stated that 1000 metric tons of fertilizer was received yesterday as a solution to the fertilizer shortage.


He also stated that steps will be taken to distribute the fertilizer amongst the farmers expediently.
