A change in the Saudi Arabian working week

The Saudi Government has taken action to change the Saudi Arabia’s weekend.

Overseas reports point out that accordingly that the Saudi Government has named Friday and Saturday as the weekend.

The foreign reports say further that the Saudi Government had taken this step since there are obstacles to perform religious observances on Friday.

Since Friday is a working day in Saudi Arabia participating in religious observances is impeded.

The Saudi Government has taken this action based on this situation.

By now between four to five hundred thousand Sri Lankans work in Saudi Arabia.

Our news team inquired from the Foreign Employment Bureau whether this change will affect the Sri Lankan workforce in Saudi Arabia.

Foreign Employment Bureau Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya said that his bureau too had been informed of this change.

The Deputy GM said that this would affect the Sri Lankan employees in Saudi Arabia as well.
