Security officer of Magistrate involved in bribe incident remanded once more

The police constable who served as the security officer of former Homagama District Court Judge Sunil Abeysinghe who is being held under remand custody over a bribery accusation has been re-remanded.


The suspect was ordered to be placed under remand custody until the 28th of this month, when the case in this regard was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today.


Moreover police were instructed to submit a detailed report on the incident on the next court day.


The former District Judge of Homagama & his security officer were placed under arrest based on charges that they had allegedly obtained a sum of rupees 300 thousand to waive a judgment in favor of an accused.


Subsequently the former District Court Judge of Homagama was released on personnel bail amounting to rupee 10 million, while his security officer was ordered to be remanded until today.
