External Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peries said that there is currently no need for the people in the North to flee the country.

Appearing in an Australian television program, Professor Peries said the government has given priority to the Northern development activities rather than any other project in the island.

He also said although the LTTE’s arms-struggle was defeated within the country, its proxies of various forms are still clearly active in the international arena.

Such LTTE proxies today collaborated with various International Organizations and certain politicians to start a propaganda war against Sri Lanka.

Professor Peries said that these proxies have been repeatedly publicizing that over 40 thousand civilians were killed in the war but it is a diabolical lie.

He said that LTTE proxy Organizations use the popular Goebbels theory where people will believe a big lie as truth when it is repeatedly announced.
