Complaints emerge again from Kahawatta - Kotakethana

The relatives of two individuals who disappeared in the Ratnapura – Kahawatta Kotakethana region lodged complaints at the Kahawatta Police again today stating that their relatives disappeared during the time DIG Vaas Gunawardena was appointed to investigate the string of murders.


The individuals who lodged the complaints expressed the following views to our news team.




Meanwhile, the courts today ordered DIG Vaas Gunwardena to be further remanded till the 9th of July when the case was taken up for hearing in the presence of Colombo Additional Magistrate A. M. Sahabdeen.


The additional magistrate also ordered the wife of DIG Gunawardena to also appear in court on the 9th of July.


The order was issued after the Criminal Investigation Department presented evidence to court that the witnesses of the case had been intimidated and threatened.


7 individuals including DIG Vaas Gunawardena were arrested in connection with the abduction and subsequent murder of business tycoon Mohammed Siaym of Bambalapitiya.
