Residents of Aluthgama oppose the temporary railway crossing gate

Residents around Aluthgama Depot Road unprotected railway crossing oppose the temporary gate provided for the unprotected railway crossing where an accident took place with six persons killed  and another   four persons injured.


The Railway department took steps to provide a temporary gate after the accident that took place last Tuesday.


After the accidents residents protested blocking the railway track demanding for a gate for the unprotected railway crossing.


Recently a number of accidents had taken place at this unprotected railway crossing.


However the residents say that a permanent gate should be fixed for this railway crossing.
