Colombo High Court issued notices on Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundare to appear in Court on July 23rd in order to give evidence in the Asia’s biggest VAT scam of 3.57 billion rupees.


High Court Judge Kumuduni Wickramasinghe further remanded Assistant Revenue Commissioner Gnanasiri de Soyza until 23rd of this month.


Gnanasiri de Soyza has been in remand in connection with the massive scam.



When the case was called, President Counsel Tilak Marapana appearing on behalf of the respondents requested the Court to summon the witnesses for the case.


Accordingly notices were issued on Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundara to appear in Court to give evidence in the case.


The Attorney General has sued 14 persons for the 3.9 billion rupees vat scam which is believed to be taken place in the Department of Inland Revenue from 15th November 2002 to 15th December 2002.
