Freedom to Ehalepola Walawwa after 195 years

The Ministry of Rehabilitation & Prison Reforms has decided to hand over the Ahalepola Maha Adikaram Walawwa which had been designated as a prison cell for over 195 years, over to the care of the government.


According to Minister of Rehabilitation & Prison Reforms Chandrasiri Gajadeera the building would be handed over to the president on the 13th of this month.


The subject minister expressed the following views in this regard during an observation tour of the building yesterday.




Speaking further he noted that the Bogambara Prison would be relocated to the Pallekale Prison complex this year.
