Timer clocks used in Bodhgaya bombs

The Indian Security Divisions have confirmed that the bombs that were set off at the Buddhagaya Mahabodhi Vihara were time bombs.


8 explosions took place yesterday morning and 4 explosions took place within the Mahabodhi Vihara and 4 other explosions took place near the 80 foot tall Buddha statue located in front of the Vihara.


NDTV news services reported that each bomb contained between 150 to 200 grams of explosives.


Plans are underway to review all CCTV camera footage from 48 hours prior to the explosions of the cameras located in and around the Mahabodhi Vihara.


Speaking to our news team the chief prelate of the Buddhagaya Center of the Indian Mahabodhi,  Venerable Hakuru-gammana Saddathissa Thero stated that the Mahabodhi Vihara has not yet been opened for pilgrims since it was closed following the explosions.
