Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association said that everything was ready for the private bus strike scheduled to be launched from mid-night today.
Association chairman Gemunu Wijeratna said that this strike would be carried out in protest against the non-revision of bus fares from July 01st as scheduled.
While we asked the all Island bus owners federation secretary Anjana Priyanjith whether they would participate in the strike, he said that the decision about it would be taken this afternoon.
Meanwhile the Railway Department said that from today train transport activities would take place as usual.
With the strike the railway graded trade union collective carried out day-before-yesterday and day before yesterday railway transport services had been impeded.
