Yantiyanthota PS chairman also in bribery net.

The Officials of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption arrested the Yatiyantota Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman this afternoon for accepting a bribe for 15,000 rupees.


Director of the Bribery Commission SSP Somaweera Lokuge said the PS Chairman was arrested while he was accepting the bribe from a businessman in his office promising to issue him a permit for a poultry farm.


SSP Lokuge said that the suspect will be produced before the Court after the interrogation in this regard is over.


Several local government members were accused of taking bribes during the last few weeks.


The last incident was reported on the 6th of this month where bribery sleuths arrested Valalla-vita PS Chairman Udeni Athukorala for his attempt to take a bribe for 1.5 million rupees from his counterpart of Bentota in order to issue a license for soil transport.
