The UNP has convened a media briefing at the parliament complex today as the parliament was adjourned after it failed to meet the quorum.

The party said that today’s adjournment was announced after claiming that the quorum was not met.

It said that the adjourning parliament during an adjournment debate was however against the standing orders.

It also said that time had been allocated to speakers before the decision was taken to adjourn parliament.

Chief Organizer of the Opposition and UNP MP John Amaratunga said that his party would complain this to the UN Human Rights Commissioner and the Human Rights Commission as well.
