Hospitals function unhindered; Trade union states that GNOA strike is a success

The Government Nurses Union stated that the strike they launched this morning over 10 demands including promotions is successful.

Union President Saman Ratnapriya told our news team that the 24 hour all island strike started at 7 this morning.

All Ceylon Nurses Association President S.B. Madiwatta said that the strike launched by the Government Nurses Union was a flop and the hospitals functioned today as usual.


However when our news team contacted Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that the Colombo National hospital also functioned today as usual.

When our news team contacted the authorities of the Kandy and Karapitiya Teaching hospitals, they said although a few nurses have launched a strike, the hospitals functioned as usual.
