Legal action has been taken against the Management Faculty of the Colombo University for having maintained dengue breeding grounds.
Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council Pradeep Kariyawasam stated that this decision was taken following tests carried out yesterday.
A law faculty student of the University died on the 5th of June after falling victim to dengue.
Following the death, the University premises was inspected and a warning was issued after dengue breeding grounds were found.
However, the Faculty had failed to take any positive steps to eradicate dengue and hence Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council Pradeep Kariyawasam stated that legal action had to be taken.
