Government cant abolish 13th Amendment; UNP

The Department of Elections has formulated a new mechanism to provide information to government servants who expect to obtain postal voting rights on behalf of the upcoming polls in the North, North West & Central provinces.


According to Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya those interested are able to obtain information in this regard by contacting the Government Information Centre on 1919.


Meanwhile UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella states that certain government Ministers have applauded the upcoming provincial polls which in turn would make it impossible for the government to abolish the 13th amendment to the constitution even if the requirement persists.


Addressing a function held in Suduhumpala-Kandy yesterday UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella expressed the following views in this regard.
