4 individuals including Biyagama PS member turn themselves over to the police

UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member Saman Weerasinghe and 3 others have turned themselves over to the Sapugaskanda police this morning.


The police media spokesperson’s office stated that they had turned themselves to the police in relation to an assault charge.


The PS member and several others had gone to a construction site in Heyyanthuduwa region where they had inquired from a laborer whether permission was obtained from the Pradeshiya Sabha for the construction.


Subsequent to an argument with the laborer the group which included the PS member had assaulted the laborer in question.


Reports states that the laborer who was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment for the injuries during the assault had recovered and left the hospital.


As a result of the complaint lodged by the owner of the building being constructed, two suspects were arrested on the 21st and have been remanded till the 26th of next month based on orders issued by the Mahara Magistrate’s Court.
