Addressing heads of media institutions at Temple Trees this morning, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that a group of TNA representatives had discussions to join the government.

When asked whether any more MPs are in the waiting list to join the government, the President said that the door has now been closed.

He said however several MPs in Kurunegala and Kandy districts are expecting to join the government.

Meanwhile journalists asked why former LTTE media spokesman Daya Master was excluded in the UPFA nomination list.

Answering journalists Minister Dallas Alahapperuma said that a lot of supporters want to contest under the UPFA ticket but it was able to accommodate only 12, and the most prospective applicants were given nominations.

When the President was asked to comment on certain remarks made by the TNA candidate C.V. Wigneswaran on the 13th Amendment, the President said that any problem could be solved through discussions.

He also said that the right to elect the Chief Minister for the North Western province should be given to the voters, and the candidate who obtained the highest number of preferential votes was appointed its Chief Minster in the past.
