Local Government Minister who forced teacher to kneel granted bail

Former North Western Provincial Council Chairman Ananda Sarath Kumara who is alleged to have forced a lady teacher to kneel was granted bail today by the Puttalam District Judge and Magistrate Ranga Dissanayaka.

The former PC chairman who was released on two personal bails each amounting to 500 thousand rupees was ordered by the judge to appear at the Nawagaththegama police each day between 9am and 12 noon.

The case was heard at the Anamaduwa Magistrate’s court and a condition was stated that the guarantors should be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.

Meanwhile the Magistrate also ordered the former PC chairman to not intimidate witnesses.
