Parliament adjourned for 5 minutes

The parliament was adjourned for 5 minutes today due to as issue arising from the adjournment debate presented by TNA parliamentarian R. Sambandan with regard to the land in the North.


At the time when the adjournment was presented MP A. H. M. Ashwar, representing the government stated that there are several ongoing cases regarding land in the North.


Speaking further he stated that since certain MPs have been named as respondents in these cases it is not suitable to hold the debate.


Following the expressing of views by various opposition members with regard to this, speaker Chamal Rajapakse stated that parliament will be adjourned for 5 minutes in order to engage in discussions regarding this.


Meanwhile UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana raised a question from Minister Sugar Industries Lakshman Seneviratne.
