Opportunity to obtain temporary identity cards until 3rd September

The final date for accepting applications for temporary identity cars for voters of the North, North Western and Central who do not have a valid NIC has been extended until the 3rd of September.


The Elections Commissioner stated that voters who require temporary identity cards should apply via the respective Grama Seva Officials.


Also temporary identity cards issued in 2011 will also be valid for the forthcoming elections.


Meanwhile, the PAFFEREL Organization requests political parties to create awareness among their candidates regarding what is termed as illegal election propaganda activities.


Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that there was a significant rise in the number of such incidents.




Meanwhile, the United National Party says that their supporters should ensure the victory of polling stations.
