The Health Services Union Federation has decided to sue the Fonterra Sri Lanka for selling contaminated powdered milk in the local market.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, Federation President Saman Ratnapriya said that legal measures are instituted in order to obtain an injunction to prevent the sale of milk products that contained DCD and Whey Protein tainted with Clostridium Botulism bacteria.

Meanwhile the government has decided to appoint a Cabinet sub committee to study the findings which claim that DCD and Whey Protein are contained in powdered milk and other milk based products in the local market.

The government took this decision after Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena brought this proposal during the Cabinet meeting today.

During the meeting to inform the Cabinet decisions, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella elaborated the government decision.
