A written complaint from JVP to Election Commissioner

Another discussion between Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya and party representatives was held at the Election Department at Rajagiriya today.

UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera who represented his party at this meeting told media that the highest number of election violence incidents were reported from Kurunegala district.


JVP Central Political Bureau member Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala represented his party at this discussion.

He said that he informed the Election Commissioner in writing about several problems that his party faced during its campaign in the North.

He also said that the use of public property for election propaganda has been increased.



After the discussion, Minister Susil Premajayantha said that comparing to previous elections, the present one is peaceful.




Meanwhile the Election Secretariat has received about 100 election violence incidents from the 3 Provinces since the nomination day.


Among them are 24 incidents from the Kurunegala district, 18 from the Matale district, 12 from the Kandy district and 8 incidents from the Jaffna districts.
