Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya will visit the North today.

During the tour the Election Commissioner will meet candidates contesting for the Northern Provincial Council as well as State employees.

Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya also hopes to brief these officers and police personnel on election activities.

The Election Department said that operations of removal of illegally displayed election-related posters, banners and cut-outs would begin tomorrow.

These will be implemented for a whole week.

Meanwhile JVP says that if the TNA will win the Northern election, it will be a fault of the Government itself.

JVP General Secretary Tilwin Silva said so while participating at a people’s rally held in Galgamuwa yesterday.

However the Government says that when taking decisions for the future, it does not do so,  targeting elections.

Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said so while participating at a function held in Matara yesterday.
