Parties and associations including the UNP signs an Agreement for Consensus

A number of political parties and associations including the UNP signed an Agreement for Consensus today in Colombo.


The agreement which consists of 10 clauses includes a clause to abolish the Executive Presidency and to hand over power to the parliament.


The 2nd clause of the agreement contains the abolishing of the 18th amendment and activating the 17th amendment.


Leader of the UNP Ranil Wickramasinghe expressed the following views during the signing of the agreement known in short as “Samagi”.
