Local water species under threat due to invasive species of Prawn

The local freshwater species are facing a threat due to the introduction of several species of prawns imported to the country to be used in the ornamental fish trade.


Speaking to our news team environmentalist Jagath Gunawardena stated that since there are many prawn farms in the Western and North Central Provinces there is a risk of these species being introduced into the local eco system.
