Navy Pillai to the Country today

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navy PIllai is scheduled to arrive in the Country today.


She is scheduled to meet with several political party representatives and is also scheduled to tour the North and East areas.


Navy Pillai who is arriving in the country as per an invitation extended in the year 2011 will compile a report on Sri Lanka which will be presented to the UNHRC Sessions in September.


The United National Party says that if the government has violated Human Rights, answers will have to be provided to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.


However, Minister Douglas Devananda stated that issues in the Country should be solved within the country itself.


The Government says that Navy Pillai will be able to meet with any person in the country but Special Envoy on Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe stated that at a time co existence has been developed, external factors should refrain from creating divisions.
