Investigations have found oil and grease substances in bottled water sold by eateries in Colombo Pettah.

Consumer Authority officials recently collected samples from random eateries in Pettah and sent them to the Government Analyst for further investigations.

A senior officer of the Consumer Authority quoted the Government Analyst saying that he found grease and oil substances in 2 samples out of the 10.

He told our news team that steps will be taken to sue the bottled water companies which released the unhygienic water to the market.

The Consumer Authority officer said that it is questionable how grease and oil contained in this particular water while the brands even had been given the standard certification and the Health Ministry recommendation.
