A letter from opposition leader to Navi Pillai.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe addressed a letter to UNHR Commissioner Navaneethan pillai yesterday.

It is said that in the letter the Opposition Leader has asked for a clarification about a request she had made to the Government during her Sri Lankan tour.

The Opposition Leader has queried about a request she had made to the Government to remove former Prime Minister D. S. Senanayake’s statue from the Independent Square and the Buddhist Flags from the Independent Square premises.

In this letter the Opposition Leader points out that former Prime Minister Honourable D. S. Senanayake was the first Prime Minister of Independent Sri Lanka as well as his party’s founder leader.

The Opposition Leader mentions further in his letter that therefore he expects a speedy clarification about her statement.
